One more lit window on your bookshelf.

A little Japanese tavern, like the ones you stumble upon around a corner in Kyoto: noren curtains, steaming bowls of ramen, a lucky cat on the register. Little Izakaya brings this scene to your desk or shelf: our starter size, smaller and quicker to build—one evening is all it takes.

The quickest Japanese book nook to build

96 pieces, two to three hours: it's one of our shortest builds, the one you finish in a single evening without noticing the time go by. Ideal for discovering book nooks without committing to a large format, or as a gift for someone who has never built anything. The izakaya's red lanterns really come alive once the lighting is on.

Who is it for? Anyone who wants to try miniature kits without diving into a large format. A small, original gift: a birthday, a thank-you, a little treat that's easy on the budget.

Assembled dimensions: 11.2 × 8 × 5 cm

Your questions about the Little Izakaya book nook

Your questions about this kit

How long does it take to build?
Allow 2 to 3 hours: one of our quickest builds, one evening is all it takes.

Does it have to go between books?
No. At 11.2 × 8 × 5 cm assembled, the Little Izakaya doesn't need a row of books to stand up: you can set it as is on the corner of a desk, a nightstand or an empty shelf. That's what sets our starter size apart from the book nooks designed to slot into a bookshelf.

How the Little Izakaya book nook compares to our other kits

With 96 pieces and 2 to 3 hours, it's one of the shortest builds in the catalog: the way in when you want to see what a finished book nook looks like before committing to a longer one. Among our book nooks, only Glade Hideaway (40 to 60 pieces) and Fireside Corner (86) have fewer, but they take 2 to 4 hours. In our Japanese collection, the next step is Kyoto Alley: 223 pieces, 3 to 5 hours, still beginner level—see Kyoto Alley.

A world to build. A light to switch on.

This kit is part of our Japanese book nooks and our selection of creative gifts. In the same collection, discover The Bonsai Pavilion next, with its shoji door. Like all our pre-cut wooden scenes, this kit appears on the 3D wooden puzzles page.
