The Classic Musical Ferris Wheel by NOOKO, assembled on a white background

DIY Music Box Kits

4,9/5 · 40 reviews

A wooden music box you build yourself has a charm no ready-made object can match: you placed every piece, and it's your own model that plays the melody. This collection brings together our DIY music box kits with a real music movement inside, from fairground Ferris wheels to a tram beneath the cherry trees. It's part of our mechanical model kits.

How to choose your music box kit

For a first musical build, an intermediate-level Ferris wheel is the right starting point: a slender silhouette, a few evenings of building and a melody at the end. If you want light as well as music, look at the Glowing Village or The Sakura Music Box. And for an exceptional gift for an experienced builder, The Wisteria Castle. The difficulty, dimensions and box contents are listed on each product page.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need batteries?

Not for the four musical Ferris wheels and the Amusement Park: their music movement winds up by hand. The Sakura Music Box plugs in via USB-C (wall adapter not included), as does the lighting of The Wisteria Castle. The details for each model are listed on its product page.

Do you need glue?

For the Ferris wheels, regular wood glue (not included) is used to attach the smallest pieces. The Sakura Music Box is built without glue.

What age are they for?

These kits are recommended for ages 14 and up. They're models to build with patience, made for teens and adults.
