The great medieval bow on its mount, rebuilt in 142 pieces.
A ballista like the ones raised at the foot of castle ramparts: a great bow mounted on a swiveling carriage, exposed gears and a round base. 142 pre-cut wooden pieces, about five hours of building, no glue.
A mechanical wooden model kit straight out of the Middle Ages
The 142 pieces fit together without glue, following the illustrated instructions: the base, the pivot, the carriage, then the bow and its elastic tensioners. Once built, the ballista swivels on its base and you can work its mechanism by hand, like a real siege machine in miniature. The natural wood can stay as is or be painted.
Who's it for? A medieval history or old-machinery enthusiast. A build to share with a teenager. A desk piece that tells the story of an era.
Assembled dimensions: 21 × 18.5 cm footprint, 19 cm tall.
