Real ship modeling: frames, planking, rigging. Your turn at the helm.

The New Port Sailboat isn't a snap-together puzzle: it's a traditional ship model kit. A plank-on-frame hull planked board by board, canvas sails, metal fittings. A patient project that ends with a 41 cm sailboat, painted and varnished the way you like.

An old-school wooden model ship kit, plank by plank

The build follows the shipyard method: the keel and frames first, then the planking laid board by board, before the masts go up and the rigging is run. The sails are canvas, the fittings metal. You paint and varnish it yourself: every New Port is one of a kind.

Who's it for? A model builder, a motivated beginner or an experienced hand, who wants a real wooden ship and not an express kit. A gift for someone who loves long evenings at the workbench.

Assembled dimensions: 41 cm long, 6 cm wide, 22.5 cm tall.

Your questions about The New Port Sailboat 1:70 model kit

Your questions about this kit

How is it different from our other ships?
This model is glued, sanded and painted, like a classic model kit. Our other model ships snap together.

Which glue should I use?
Wood glue for the hull, cyanoacrylate (super glue) for the small metal parts. Our guide to glue for wooden model kits explains what to use where.

Do I need tools?
A craft knife, fine sandpaper, tweezers and a few clothespins to hold the planking while it dries.
